I am Emelia the author of a dyslexicwriter
I am 26 years old .
I made this blog about 2 years ago , but I never really put any content on it , since I don’t know how and what to write about.
The original name of this blog was “Just around the corner” under the URL of badlia.wordpress.com
The reason why I changed it to adyslexicwriter it is because I find ” just around the corner” boring and very common.
Now , a lot of people know that dyslexic is a Learning disability of about 5 to 10 % of the world’s population , and not all are properly diagnosed .
What is dyslexic?
(according to Wikipedia)
Dyslexia is characterized by difficulty in learning to read fluently and with inaccurate comprehension despite normal intelligence. [1][2] This includes difficulty with phonological awareness, phonological decoding, processing speed, orthographic coding, auditory short-term memory, language skills/verbal comprehension, and/or rapid naming.[3][4][5]
Developmental reading disorder (DRD), or dyslexia, is the most common learning disability.
Yes, I have this learning disability , which impaired me to fulfill my ultimate dream , and that is to become a writer.
Being dyslexic is a forever challenge for me , however in my day-to-day experience in this forever competitive world , I had learned to embrace and accept this disability.
Instead , I used it to challenge my self and know my self better.
Yes, I don’t know how to spell but it doesn’t mean I don’t know how to write , with the little help of spell checker, modern technology , familiarizing the subject verb agreement and forever reading books , magazines and articles helped me developed my writing skills ..
After evaluating my self for more than a year I kissed ” JUST AROUND THE CORNER” good-bye.
I replaced it with ” ADYSLEXICWRITER” in this way I am totally opening up , sharing to the world my hidden disability.
I wanted to tell the world that dyslexic people are not stupid or even lazy , we are just misunderstood by this world ruled by letters and words.
I wanted to prove to my self and not only for my self but for those who has learning disability that we can conquer it , it’s just a matter of hard work , positive attitude and focus..
I know its hard ,that sometimes people around us, judge us , humiliate and ridicule us .
All we need to do is to understand them and educate them about our disability , since they don’t have any idea what we are , and what we are going through.
